When it comes to being a more productive person who doesn’t procrastinate, it is all about your habits. There are bad habits that can take away from your productivity, but also some good habits that can help you tremendously.
Have a Consistent, but Flexible Schedule
Schedules and routines are everything when it comes to focus and concentration, but flexibility is just as important. Being productive isn’t about doing as much as possible and never having a break or breaking from your routine. Things come up and plans change, so you need to be open-minded to these changes and roll with the punches.
Take Regular Breaks
Nobody should work 6-8 hours straight without breaks. If you have a habit of working multiple hours at a time and not letting yourself rest, that is your biggest mistake. Whether you work for yourself or someone else, at home or in an office, you need breaks. Even if it is just a 5-minute walk outside every few hours, it can do wonders for your focus and productivity.
Notice When You Have High Energy During the Day
Pay attention to when you tend to have energy boosts during the day, which is often when you can focus and get the most work done. It is going to vary for everyone, so don’t assume just because your best friend works best in the early morning hours, that this is when your personal high-energy phase of the day is as well.
The next time you have a full day of work, note when you got the most done and were the most productive. Is this the time of day when you always tend to get the most done? You will likely notice a pattern before too long and can take advantage of those moments.
Set Up Some Daily Rituals
Have daily rituals that not only act as self-care and relaxation time but help get you in the right mood for working. These daily rituals can include little morning and nighttime routines, or simply be a few minutes a day you dedicate to yourself. It gives you a reason to take a break and reenergize before you get back to work.
Add in Healthy Habits
Your healthy habits like diet and exercise are also really important when it comes to being more productive. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, eat a nutritious diet, and get regular physical activity.
